Here it is June 23rd already! Before we know it the summer will be over! Yes, I know, it has just begun. It seems the days fly by so quickly with so much going on. For me it has been a very busy time in my office, design room and sewing area! It seems that creating is in my blood. As the farmers say, "Make hay while the sun shines"

Not only have I been creating like a piece of barn board on fire. I have also been very blessed to reunite with some old friends from many years ago. It's so much fun to share stories and catch up on our lives. I suppose it's true that sometimes we need to go back, in order to move forward.

Today I was up early, same routine take the dogs out for a walk, make some coffee and head on downstairs to design and create. My pillows have been selling rather well. I needed to start early this morning to catch up on some Canadian Flag pillows and other items to replace the ones I have sold. I had it all planned out, but when I got downstairs it seems something else was coaxing me on and I was driven to create another piece that I was not planning on creating.

In March, I lost a dear friend who fought like a soldier so brave and strong to carry on. It was the fight of her life and for her life. She was a close friend and neighbor from Alberta. I hadn't seen her in a long time, but we kept in touch when we could, to catch up on our kids lives and neighborhood gossip and things that we had been doing. We gave each other moral support and I loved her and cherished her very much. She was so full of positive thoughts even when she was very ill she was always positive. It seems I could ask her advice on anything and she would say "Now Jo, you know what to do" with her no nonsense, common sense attitude. Such a joyful inspiration she still remains. Well, today I felt her presence with me while I was creating and I came up with the "Bears Paw" .

Her husband had told me that the bear was her spirit guide and she knew this and spoke of it.

Just after she had passed away her Granddaughter came out of her room one night and said that she couldn't sleep because there was a bear in her room. There were other similar bear related things that happened to her family. This makes sense to me because the bear is strong and courageous and bigger than life, and so was she!

In the kingdom of spirit animals, the bear is emblematic of grounding forces and strength. This animal has been worshiped throughout time as a powerful totem, inspiring those who need it the courage to stand up against adversity. As a spirit animal in touch with the earth and the cycles of nature, it is a powerful guide to support physical and emotional healing. The primary meaning of the bear spirit animal is strength and confidence. Standing against adversity; taking action and leadership. The spirit of the bear provides strong grounding forces.

So this one is for you Bren. Until we meet again, you will forever be in my thoughts and memories.

Love, Jo
